Lots of beer...my fav is weis (sp?-wheat) beer in a tall glass with lemon. Serve a variety of sausages...knockwurst, kreinerwurst, bratwurst...with dark bread & good mustard & German potato salad. Play oompa music & wear lederhosen :D

We love Oktobeirfest! In all seriousness, you should plan to serve light appetizers of fruits, nuts, and multicolored vegetables. The fruits and nuts will accent the certain wines you plan to serve. Also consider matching wines with sweets, for example: dark chocolate mini brownies with a cabernet sauvignon! As for beer, poll your guests beforehand, make it fun. On the RSVP request, ask them to list their top two favorite domestic brews and the top 2 imported brews. Tally the poll and choose 1 domestic half keg (or 75-90 bottles) and 1 import keg. Or choose 1/4 keg (30-50 bottles). Knowledge of your guests, the length of time they plan to stay and the amount of food served should be your indicator of amount of beverage to have onhand. As for other food items: chicken meatballs, tomato/mozzerella/basil combos, cubed cheeses, etc.
*Hint: Go to Sam's or Costco if you can and you will find all sorts of items already prepared and just in need of a quick run in the oven or microwave. Keep in mind it is all about how you present it to your guests.

That's it. We have done this for Oktobeirfest for several years. It is always a huge hit with family and firends. This year we are expecting 170 people. That is huge! Good luck and remember to play it safe and have fun!
