It really depends on what you are accustomed to. I've been using computers for almost 25 years. When I was using DOS and Unix, it was because the GUI (Windows) environment was not yet around. Today, it's still second nature when using DOS, because I had to for so many years. (I still use it for some hard drive maintenance functions when working on older PCs.) There are probably still tutorials online and certainly primer books, if you are interested in learning.
Here's one such online tutorial:

No windows, command line driven:
C:/programs/dbase/cdlist.dbf
also uses batch files:
C:/ echo on
C:/ echo this is a MS-DOS print statement
C:/ echo off
C:/ pause
C:/ beep
C:/ CLS
C:/ END
Not so easy to use - started out with that myself in the 80's, along with unix. A whole new language to learn...

I quite miss DOS. At least you could type in an instruction and it either did what you wanted, or told you exactly why it wouldn't!
At least it is the sort of thing you never forget - and I'm still happy to use DOS when needed. Command line instructions are still out there!

A command-line interface seems very primitive now, but when it was all we knew it was great.
