The Official Statement has been that it will never be released. I have mixed feelings about this. Steve HIMSELF said if he dies he hopes it's by a creature and he really hopes they catch it on tape. He was all about educating people about animals etc and teaching them about the dangers as well as handling techniques and things to do and not do. Personally I feel this is the biggest lesson of all. Think how many lives would be saved if people knew what exactly he did wrong. Did he try to touch them? Did he swim over the stingray and it felt trapped? That dude was so cool-he would want everyone to see what happened to him so they would learn from his mistake. I don't think I would be able to watch it though-as I used to watch his show and I'm a very emotional person-so it would be hard to watch. But I think it should be available as learning material-albeit morbid. Another question I have always wondered about is if he would have lived had he not pulled it out. btw did you know that recently he did a tv commercial for a courier company in which he staged his own death? He had great fun doing it-although the 'storyline' is that he died before the courier company got the venom to him because his stupid employer had switched courier companies to save money. So the commercial was saying to stick with the reliable company. That video I have seen on the internet-either with youtube or google-I can't remember which.

It will NEVER be shown. His family and friends want it destroyed and that is exactly what the Australian authorities will do with it.

John Stanton insists the video of Irwin's death is so harrowing he will personally ensure it is destroyed as soon as Australian police in Queensland have finished viewing it.

He says, "It should be destroyed. When that (tape) is finally released it will never see the light of day, ever.

"I actually saw it and I don't want to see it again."

Media reports suggested Irwin's family is determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast.

Irwin once insisted, "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip.

"Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me."

As we all know, saying one thing and actually having to choose is way different. I don't think his family let it be broadcast. Would you actually want to see your husban/wife die repeatedly on television or the internet?
