why anyone , who asked you too?
you tried it in Vietnam and lost , Iraq is a disaster, you overthrew an elected government in Chile and installed a dictator, you supported a curpt government in Cuba, you sent in marines to preserve the unused land that the elected government want to but at market prices so poor people would not starve, for the united fruit company, you refused to declare war on the Nazis and let france fall and london burn untill you were attacked.
Why attack Iraq? they were Bin Laden's enemies. If you were trying to make people lives better , you have made it worse and wy if that is true didnt you help in Rawanda.
You cant be a policeman if your not protecting the common good rather than your own best interests.
It isnt that your just moraly bankrupt it that you totaly incompetant.

Personally, yes, I would rather it was Americans because I am American. However, that's because I understand my fellow Americans better than, say, I understand your average Frenchman or Italian or whatever.
I also favor it being America since, if I'm going to be taxed to death so America can pay for it (we always seem to wind up paying a big portion of lots of stuff) then we should have some say in things.
However, think of it from everyone else's viewpoint. Would you want China running things just becuase they have a lot of money and power? Would you want France as the world's police person? How about Iran or Saudi Arabia?!?
Nooooo! We don't people very different from ourselves running the show and that's how people in other parts of the world feel about us.

World policemen? That sounds kind of scary to me. I'm an American, but I don't believe ANY nation is capable of policing the world! Most countries have their hands full just trying to police themselves!

I don't think any country is to be the 'world policemen'. For better or worse, the UN should play that role. It will only be as successful as the world wants is to be.

If we lived in a world where there needed to be police for sovern countries the best solution would be a council of all countries that share in the responsibility of overseeing international justice

Seriously? I would rather have Korea govern the world rather than the US....
I don't know... how about Canada... they always seem bloody nice people..... or the Swiss... they never fight with anyone.... acutally scrap that... the Finns... they would just pass the bottle of Vodka around and we would all get as merry as farts and love one another.
(no, I'm not Canadian, or Swiss, or a Finn).

It is our duty as being on top to help out disadvantaged countries or ones at war. Imagine if we said to the police department that we didnt want them to patrol the streets because we thought they had too much power. Anarchy would ensue...
Being it is either a war or welfare we tend to help. It is in our nature as Americans to be helpful to others.
