i basically want to replace the seat with a smaller , less higher seat as i am not very tall . this would be on a bajaj discover 125 dts-i . how many inches can i reduce it by so as to still have enough control on my bike ?

You can lower the seat height by removing some foam. May be not more than 1 inch. It gives good curvy look. Try two tone seat cover for such a stuff. It is done at many seat cover guys workshops and will cost you around 200 Rs.

I doubt whether you can get a lower seat for your bike, each bike model has different brackets on the frame for the seat to fit into. If you can get one foot on the ground, what's the problem? Can't you reach the footpegs?

Some people remove the seat cover take some of the foam out then put the cover back. Another way to lower the bike is to change the rear suspension for shorter ones.

you can drop through the fork stanchins a few inches and you should be able to get shorter rear shocks with out any difference to the handling

you will reduce the seat height by however much less (height) tall seat you put on.
