Music is getting tiresome due to the fact that all popular music is controlled by corporate america. The truly innovative and original bands cannot get a record deal that gives them the oportunity to have wide distribution. I don't normally listen to popular music there are a lot of great bands on smaller erecord labels that will never make it due to the fact that they wont be played on mtv. Music isn't tiresome pop culture is. Send me a message of what type of music you listen to and I can give you some bands that might spark your interest.

Yes.

The problem is most mainstream music is corporate music. It has a very high production value. The quality of the sound is excellent, but the content being generated is only mediocre at best.

There's little to no individuality or creativity in music today. Music has become such a big business there's little room for letting it do it's thing.

Music is an art form. Any time you turn an art form into a business, the art will suck. The reason it sucks is because its created for profit. Music has no soul today.

We can change it though. We can get out, get some instruments, and work on creating our own new groove. The corporate machine can dominate the industry, but it can't lead the industry. Human individuality wins in that end.

Music was originally meant for uniting and combining communities. We've lost that in our music today too. It's just entertaining background noise. It's not integral into our lives anymore.

Bottom line: it has no soul.

First of all when I write this, people will call me racist. I truly am not racist but I think the worst thing to happen to music in the past 10 years is rap.

The thing that is attractive about rap is the background music, which always carries a good beat, and relatively untalented people can perform rap. This appeals to a large group of people of all races.

But, Rap to me is musical poetry. It is the speaking of words that are unintelligible, spoken by individuals with a talent to rhyme, but not for music. I'm not even getting into rap that endorses violence or degrades women or that it is full of profanity. I'm just looking at it from a music/song perspective. Rap is a total bore and it amazing to me that rappers become very rich by spreading such garbage.

So, go ahead, tell me I'm a racist and tell me that I just don't understand the message. Yes I don't understand a message of garbled words, yes I don't understand how it can endorse violence, drugs, promiscuity, the degradation of women. I can't understand any of this.

I know my generation was called radical because we supported foreigners with long hair (The Beatles). But love or like the Beatles, at least we could all agree that the Beatles produced music. And, today, there are very tallented musicians that do great work. But for me, rap is a bore and yes, it is totaly tiresome.

Some how...I believe (personally, I don't want to insult anyone) that certain types of music such as pop, hip-hop and rap, have become really common. I mean, one imitates the other, many become offensive and most of the songs only talk about love and sex and stuff. It has become tiresome. But I also believe there are some metal and rock bands that are really respectful and worth listening to.

Not at all...well wait, just a little bit. But there is a lot of new and undiscovered talent out there. Believe it or not, but I've learned about some new singers through my local library. They order CD's and I have a chance to listen to them for free. If I like them I'll buy them for my collection. I listern to gospel, classical, some R&B and jazz. I have over 400 CD's and counting. I order from BMG on a monthly basis and it's great. Music is one of the most exciting things in my whole life...seriously. It's a way for me to unwind and it always brings me joy, even after listening to the same CD over and over again!

Yes. It lacks the meaning behind it all. Plus it is boring as hell to listen to compared to the 80's music.

From time to time I wonder that myself, but just as often I discover some band I've never heard before that blows my mind. or at least gives me hope that music is alive.

Yes.
There's too much money involved so real musicians don't get a look in now cos the industry is mainly interested in image.

music sucks nowadays because the people in power dont want creativity or depth, it sparks knowledge and that is a threat to them.

So much of it sounds exactly the same, so yeah. Where's the creativity? The originality?
