Polar bears range throughout the circumpolar north in areas where they can hunt seals at open leads. The five "polar bear nations" in which the bears are found include the U.S.(Alaska), Canada, Russia, Denmark(Greenland), and Norway. Polar bears do not live in the southern hemisphere.

they live in the arctic regions around the north pole that is the north coast of Alaska, Canada, Greenland and I really don´t know about Russia and Sibiria. I know they breed at the northern east coast of Greenland where the current is very strong and it happens, that they drift with the great ice south and get ashore in southern Greenland and in 1969 even drove as far north from the south to Nuuk.
In Canada and Alaska they get to the houses looking for food in peoples waste and then they are really hungry, so everyone has to have a gun ready for selfdefense.
In Greenland only local hunters are allowed to shoot polar bear. But tourists without guide must carry arms even if they are not allowed to kill only in emergency they can try to scare them away.
My boyfriends fathers sister was very badly attacked by a polar bear while she was picking berries.

This is from the BBC Website, it has a great deal of answer there on this subject.

And I just learned, that Polar bears are known to actively hunt humans - for food!!

Distribution
Polar bears are found throughout the circumpolar Arctic, south to Canada. They are the most northerly distributed species of bear.

Habitat
They spend most of their time on Arctic ice floes, and when they are on the shore they remain near the water.

Hope this helps!!

HABITAT:
The entire circumpolar Arctic region is polar bear habitat. They are equally comfortable in the water and on land. Polar bears can be found on pack ice, coastal islands, coastlines and even out in Arctic waters. They are exceptional swimmers and have been observed in the sea more than 100 miles from the nearest land or pack ice.

polar bears live in the north pole and NOT the south, i dunno why. penguins are the ones who live in the south. have you ever seen the coke commercial? it's scientificaly impossible because 1. the polar bears would eat the penguins
2. they live in totally different hemispheres

polar bears also live in zoos♥
