I have this for homework, due Monday
I have to write how to survive with hard candy, a broken piece of glass, a length of shoelace, one match, aluminum foil, and my clothes.

Even with all the wonderful items you have with you, you have bigger problem - water. Without H2O, you can only expect to last 3-4 days max. So finding a source of water is primary. You can't drink ocean water, so its out. If you have enough foil, you maybe able to make a solar still for water - the production would be low. Are there palm trees with coconuts? If yes, they contain water and you can cut the shell with the broken glass, just be careful. Learn how to catch fish. Build a fire and keep it going, you only have one match. Keep you clothes to avoid exposure. The foil can be used to wrap food for cooking or a poor signaling device. Ration your candy - its great energy food. Use your imagination and good luck - its going to be tough winter.

use the hard candy to lure animals with the smell, and then kill them using the broken piece of glass and the length of shoelace tied to a stick to spear the animal. Wear you clothes (even if there are no other people on the island) because you could get sunburned. you could use the aluminum foil to attract sun to make a fire and if that doesn't work, use the match and just keep the fire going forever and ever until you get saved!!!
