I had the same problem, thus for I could not where tampons. You could have a tilted cervix, or just not made to retain tampon in the proper place. This is actually quite common.

Tampons can cause serious problems...If your a cramper...there is a good chance you may suffer a condition called Endometriosis...it is very common in women. Its skin that grows and cause's extreme pain during your cycle. Your not suppose to wear tampons because it obstructs the flow and cause's the bacteria to stay up inside you. If you are a bad suffer'er of cramps. You should use regular pads. I know this suck's. But it is not natural to have the tampons blocking the flow. They can be quite dangerous anyway. All of that should come out of us. Leaving the tampon in there, leaves the blood in the cervix too. Switch too pads. You will see an immediate difference. Birth control pills can also help with cramps.

Actually tampons can significantly increase cramps, for one of two reasons;
1. The way in which a tampon is made. Most tampons expand width-ways, this is because they are made by rolling up a length of fleece into a small "swiss roll" shape. Where as tampons such as Tampax are made by cutting rectangles from a length of cotton/viscose fleece so expand length-ways; thus they expand into the cervix, which is already sensitive due to menstruation. The width-ways expansion of the tampons themselves can also add to bloating, which in turn can contribute to menstrual cramps.
2. Tampons are bad for vaginal health. Commercial tampons are the most harmful out of over twenty different menstrual options;
For one they absorb fluids including discharge meant to keep the vagina healthy and keep the mucosa moist - thus causing vaginal splitting, increasing risk of infections and risk of toxic shock syndrome significantly.
Secondly in the case of commercial tampons these also contain chemicals used to effectively 'bleach' the tampon white. These chemicals are not only harmful to the pH and so in turn natural flora in the vagina, but also harmful to health in general.
In short: unhealthy vagina = menstrual problems (i.e. menstrual cramps).
You will find that around 90% of women who have switched from tampons to menstrual cups for health (or other reasons) have found their cramps to be far less, and their flow to be far lighter, than with tampons because their vaginal health has improved.
Tampons don't cause cramps, cramps are a result of hormones known as prostaglandins being realsed that cause uterus contractions - thus why some women get cramps more than others and why bad cramps can be hereditory (yet most women's cramps can be totally avoided with the right treatment).
Tampons do however significantly increase menstrual cramps because of their effect on vaginal health and because of their expansion within the vagina.

I doubt it is because it's in the wrong way, I personally don't like them and use pads. If it is making your cramps worse, possibly because your vagina is more sensitive, I would recommend using something else for the time being, and seeing if it stops. If it does, then it was probably because of the tampons.

it happens to me everytime. I am allergic to pads which puts me in a bad situation. There is a new thing out called instead. It's like a little cup you put up in you and 24 hrs later you take it out. This does not sound like a good idea to me. And quite gross when you take it out.
This is what works for me and is just a little less painful. but if your not willign to switch to pads here ya go.
Use tampax Pearl. they go in smoother I've found. Expensive tho.
Use the absolute lowest asobancy you can. When the tampon is full it eases out better.
Aim towards your lower back.
Try Midol for cramping. if it's not doin it for you talk to your dr. There's more than birth control to help this out. I was on premerin for a while. Truthfully I noticed the muscle relaxers I was also on at the time worked.
if you sit down to insert try the stand up method. As time goes on your body changes. What was good then might not be good now.
Above all else talk to your dr.

I don't think that it would. Are you using the smallest absorbancy for your flow. Are you putting it in the right opening. Go to www.beinggirl.com. This site helped me soooo much.

You may be using the wrong ones or may not even be able to use them. It could be in right and still do that.
