Clownfis when born are sexless. They are born with both male and female organs but are unable to use them until they mature - like most any animal. In a colony of clownfish, in the aquarium or in the wild, the dominant (not the oldest) will develop it's female reproductive organs. the next most dominant fish will develop male organs. The other clown fish will remain genderless. Should one of the dominant pair die, the next most dominant fish will take it's place.

I tend 2 think that the girl fish have fan tails and the boy fish have the short tails!! Whether that is true or not i dont kno! As i dont even kno wot a clown fish looks like, im just basin wot i think on ordinary fish. The best thing 2 do is ask in a pet shop or get a book from the library.

They are born the same sex and one will change sex to form a pair...the same with many marine fish. As they reach breeding age, one will become slightly larger. It is best if you have a group of six, as the chances are better of getting a good breeding pair. This technique is used by many commercial hatcheries.
