It depends on whether the man views the female friend as attractive, if they don't ,no sex is required! The basic problem is that men cannot differentiatite attention that comes in the form of friendship or sexual. Females are such gorgeous creatures, how can we just friends with them?
What's interesting is the "can we still be friends" after a breakup line. Course you can't! IF you can manage that then there was never any sexual pulse in the realtionship in the first place!

I oftened wonder that same question myself when it comes to Men. I think Men are just more sexually promiscuous than women, it's hard wired into their DNA from the cave Man days.
To befriend a woman and love everything about her only increases the sexual dive and desire to have her in bed. That is the best way for men to show how much they care and love that person. They need/crave the human touch, the love touch. They don't go around hugging , touching, kissing, etc their male best friends.....I don't think so. Also, having a women friend gives them more insight into life, relationships, and just plain basic instincts.
This is my own interpretation of the question. I guess we all have to find our own reasons for the behavior of our Male Friends.

I suppose men can and do start out wishing just to be friends, but some thing happens between two people that changes that friendships into a sexual thing between them even if only one of them is thinking that its changed, and its moved on from a friendship to the next level. Obviously looks, attractiveness and the chemistry between people has an affect on people and therefore the sexual aspect can happen.

It is because of our sex drive. Don't tempt us, if you want to be friends with guys, don't mention anything about sex. The urge is like an alarm going off in our head that won't shut off, even though we want the alarm too stop!!! Since you are female, it is hard for you to understand, that is the best way I can explain it to you.

Not all men are like that. I've a few female friends who I regard as friends and there are no sexual overtures involved we're just friends.

But as to the general issue, most men tend to have a high sex drive and an "urge" to want sex (afterall, it's where we all came from).

Im a virgin
Im proud of that and Im not gonna have sex until im married
Im currently single and enjoy having female friends so i can feel accepted and develop my relational skills with them
Please dont assume all guys are the same. I do think about sex sometimes but not with every girl I meet, and that is not the motivation for any of my friendships
I hope you find some decent guys who respect you as a friend. And remember its not all about appearance. Please dont assume all guys are bad, cos some of us do genuinely care.........and I think its about time you met one of them!!

I believe it goes WAY back to a time before history. Back to when humans were closer to animals. In order to propegate our species, males needed to mate with as many females as possible to assure there would be more humans in the future. In today's "sophisticated society" we no longer need to worry about such things. However, those desires are still wired into our genetic make-up and they are very difficult to erase. I hope this helps...

It's hard, but that is just the man's problem. Most learn how to accept the fact/ The sexual tension just adds to the friendship

It's impossible. A man doesn't have real female friends, just women who he would have sex with if things were different.

It ain't hard.
Just some guys think they are established in manhood the more sex they get.
I believe the problem is in how children are raised to think that sex defines a male/female relationship.
