Public Display of Affection (Like kissing and grabbing on each other)
or the little hand held device called a palm pilot or pocket PC
Personal Digital Assistant

I think the military may have coined that physical word and it is not slang just an abbreviation.

A PDA is a personal digital assistant. It is in slang terms, called a "handheld" or a little computer that fits into the palm of your hand. Also called a "palm pilot". It can be as simple as just a digital calendar and phone book or as complex as a mini computer that fits into your hand and you can add software to it. You can look online to find different types. They range in price from $99 all the way up into the thousands.

First thing you gotta do is get over the fear of asking a question, nothing embarrassing about it, that's how you learn, and not be stupid or ignorant, if they kid you about it so what, they didn't know at one time either and i bet had to ask someone, it is always better to ask then be dumb.

As an abbreviation, it could mean anything. Usually it's a small computer (personal digital assistant), and in that case I say handheld, no matter what actual type it is.

I would just ask them. If you follow the links below you'll see they can be damm near anything.
