My knees click and crack all the time. I can make my sternam crack to and my shoulders sometimes clunk and click. Why is this? I am a very healthy, fit 33 year old male. I eat well and am active. Should I worry? And dont tell me to goto the doctor, I have and he just sends me home. An osteopath said I should not worry at all as it is a myth that clicking/cracking joints result in arthritis later in life

The clicking in the joints has nothing to do with arthritis or gas, it's cause by the ligaments, and very rarely could indicate a hypermobility syndrome. Don't waste any time worrying or any money in supplements or osteopaths. You are as healthy as anybody else

Most of my joints make noise and have most all of my life. I am a 65 year old female.

I remember learning years ago that we have gas pockets around our joints and the popping is the release of gas in the joint.

I will say the bad news is I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis 2 years ago, but then again my Grandmother had it also.

I always poo pooed arthritis. Trust me when I say Rheumatoid Arthritis is NO JOKE. I was out of commission 8 months last year. Good this spring and have been bad again for 2 months.

Well good luck you will never have it.

Mine do it too as do my ankles, hips, shoulders and jaw.
It is caused by air getting into the joint I believe. Sometimes it hurts but the loudest ones, the ones that other people notice, are the least painful.
No sign of arthritis anywhere but my neck and although I have always been a pain in it!!! it does not click.
I am 51 btw

Worry solves nothing whatever the condition. You just should avoid activites such as blind man's bluff, hide & go seek, burgulary, or sneaking up an a glass of water. A career as bomb squad specialist is out of the question.

If Rice Crispies needs a spokesman you would be a natural.

I'm 54 and my knees, sternum, and others have been cracking for as long as I can remember and, so far, no arthritis or other joint-related problems.

Try an experiment. Go to local health food store & buy something called "Liquid Health - Glucosamine". Take it for two weeks & see if the clicking stops. I suspect the synovial fluid in your joints is waning.

No. Sometimes I sound like snapping celery, my knees crack so much. It really has not affected me in any way.
