Yes go 2 Windows safe mode ( press F8 using start up) They'll ask u if u want to use system restore or run on a special diagnostic mode first. Safe mode is better if u want 2 do system restore or scan for viruses/spywares. But u cannot use windows to the fullest extend. Limited to basic needs. There is no other way 2 get system restore, either by opening "My Computer" or doing anything else except going 2 start menu.
SYSTEM RESTORE is most effective in safe mode, though it takes more time 2 restore.

Hi,
Turn off your pc-as soon as you turn it back on you will tap f10 quickly, don't stop until you see a black screen w/ writing over it- wait for set up and you can go to restore. If you do a destructional restore, it will walk you through when you walked out the store. You will lose all pic, ect. though. Good luck!

if you have windows xp,go to software repair wizard and open it . I do not have system restore disc made so I let it walk me through "restore to an earlier date" I usually pick a date when it was working properly, I may just go back 3 days at times, and it works.

If you have windows XP, press F8 at start up, and boot up in safe mode. Once windows opens, it will prompt you to continue running in safe mode or restore your computer to an earlier time.
