It is neither random or certain...our lives are set out on just choices...plain old choices.
A choice is never random, unless you flip a coin ever time you have to make a decision.

According to Scripture we are born in iniquity and come into this world speaking lies. Being born a liar into a world of liars, whose god is the master liar, is pretty random and not much of a path.

For many the "path" consists of sustaining life in the physical body with some "quality time" and a few vacations leading to a leisurely retirement. For most a delusion.

If you are chosen of God you will find that none of your choices are random and your path was fixed all along. Scripture says it this way -- "Your steps are ordered."

God touches all with the attribute of hope. How we use and understand hope presents to us our real choices and the true way. God hides in the hope within us and in simplicity before us.

Everything is random for the wicked and the "path" to destruction is wide.

Think of your journey as on the ocean or if on land as that of a trail blazer. There is no path only a way. On this journey you cannot see your own footsteps, except in retrospect.

You can see your goal and your companion.

We all choose our life path before we are born so that we can learn Spiritual lessons that we did not learn in other lives. We have Free Will, we make choices and we never know if we have made the right choices or not. Really we are just like a dog chasing its tail, we never know what the lessons we have to learn are. All we can do is treat people like we would like to be treated.

The choices we make in life sets us on many different paths. I don't believe in destiny in most cases, but one who is royal might be destined to be King but ussually, it is the choices (either good or bad choices) that sets us on a certain course in life thus creating a "destiny"

Ones choices may make prison his destiny. Or, the Whitehouse. Or, the moon. We all make choices and we have all set a course that we are on. We can change course by making a new decision.

Of course choices can be random but must be done blindly to be true to what constitutes their randomness. Perhaps? I think we make our choices based on the ends to which our intentions lead us, regardless of short term or long term agendas. We can have spontaneous moments where our curiosity steers our choices with a big "what if" but hopefully it is the wisdom of consequences for every choice we make that guides us in our reasoning for the choices we make.

Every path you choose has a certainty to it which is grounded in the sequential progress toward natural outcomes. For instance if I know where it is I want to be in an hour from now or ideologically five years from now then it is certain that upon examination reason tells me that these are the specific events in time which would hopefully lead to that desired goal.

We excersize free will sometimes in respose to external variables and also to internal presuppositions or epistomological dictates but it must be understood that within finite reality cause and effect is the motor which drives our vehicle of volitional actions and like it or not we are responsible agents of moral obligation.

Reality of existence is fact. Right actions follow right intentions. Quality lives are stained with quality choices which grow out of quality interpretations of self, made in the image of its Creator.

I believe there is no such thing as fate. You make your own fate with the choices you make - everyone has free will - quantum mechanics says that all things are random. It is easy to say something was meant to be with hindsight - but the fact is that no-one knows what is going to happen in the future - it hasn't happened. That's why time travel into the future would be impossible because the future is not mapped out.

We have free will and a God with perfect knowledge of how we will use that free will (Read Luther's Bondage of the Will)

I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose free will

There are those who think that they've been dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them ---
They weren't born in lotus-land

All preordained
A prisoner in chains
A victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face
You cant pray for a place
In heavens unearthly estate

Each of us
A cell of awareness
Imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt
That's far too fleeting

from the past life regressions i perform i have been told that before you are born you converse with a council on what the aim of your life is, from there plans are made and only certain situations are placed in front of you, lets say you find yourself in a situation where you can do the good thing or the wrong thing, often those situations are in place before birth, most other stuff is free will. its complex and too long to write about but thats the jist of it.

Our lives are set out on a undeniable direction if we save on with the Bible and that is teachings, taking in precise expertise of God and of the single whom he despatched forth Jesus Christ John 17:3. We make our selections for this reason, if we make random selections with out pondering Jehovah we are able to locate ourselves on the huge and spacious street premiere off into destruction which many are looking rather of the narrow and cramped street premiere off into life which few are looking Matthew 7:13,14.
