And if so, is it a valid use of government resources?

Also, would a terrorist be in a dark cave contemplating delusions of death and destruction or answering questions on yahoo answers?

The Bush Administration has monitored Quakers, Catholic charities, gay rights activists, war protestors, and vegetarians under the guise of the War on Terror. My father has worked with one of the charities that Bush spied on. I myself was prebanned from a Bush-Supporting website (annecoulter.org) that I had never visited before so my Internet connection (if not my name) is on some list somewhere.

The Feds aren't after Islamic militants, they want to control the American people. And those who say "I'm not doing anything wrong, so I'm not worried." are just fools.

The CIA does not monitor Answers or most political forums or message groups, they have real work to do.

The DNC and RNC both do to monitor public opinion, see if their campaign spin is hitting the people as they intend and to engage in their gams by planting seeds to see if it grows, if it does they use it meainstream.

The DNC paid for several of the 9/11 conspiracy videos to be produced. They planted the seeds on Answers and message boards and watched the hits on the sites downloading the movie. When they realized it was catching in it went into their mainstream anti-Bush campaign.

The RNC also monitors the sutes to read peoples opinions and see where they need to concentrate their spin. Websites like these are godsends to the national political parties and campaign managers because it is a lot quicker than a poll and probably yields more accurate results because the multitude of questions negates the inherent bias of a traditional poll.

The only thing surprising would be if they weren't monitoring YA. After all, it has international reach. Not only could they identify some serious wacko's, but they could get a feel for the dialogue going on around the world. Just like in datamining phone conversations, the monitoring could be done with computers looking for key words in the text.

And you are fooling yourself if you think all terrorists are hiding in caves. Many are very savvy about technology and use it to their advantage.

They don't have to. There is a device called Predator that is "piggy-backed" onto servers and looks for key words and phrases, back tracks IP addresses, certain names, etc...

But, believe me, anything you could say in here is of absolutely no importance to them.

Yes you have been flagged since you used the acronym in your question. Hurry up and hide because the guys in the black suits will be landing in your yard in their black helicopter to take you away for questioning.
