While both have something to do with numbers the difference is like a portrait and house painter use paint.

So, continue your education. You can never know enough. So many people have majored in one subject and end up on the unemployment lines down the road. Go for your accounting. No matter what field you chose in the end, you'll always have a great back-up.

Go to a community college and get an associates degree in accounting.

OMG!! An engineer who wants to be a bean counter and number cruncher....... Reminds me of someone who retired at 50, owned a couple of aerospce companies, managed a couple of others, always applied rigorous statistical process control to all phases of business and now raises children and peacocks and sails on his boats, takes long hikes and relaxes. Drive on young one......

If what you're asking is how to go about it, your best bet is to get a masters degree in accounting or an MBA with acocunting emphasis.
