Owing a display home cleaning business for years and not wanting to get sued for ruining any floors, we always called the manufacturer of the floors and asked what they recommended.
It always depend on what the floors are made of. Most said never use soap, , just a damp mop (wrung out to almost dry) with either plain water or add about a cup of white vinegar.

Yes there, is I dont know what kind of soap you used on your floor but in order to take it off completely you need to dilute your mop water (hot) with white vinegar. About 1-gal to 5-gal of water. You need to mop the floor atleast 3 times using clean vinegar water after each time. Then use this to mop your floor ..I know it sounds silly but it work great...*dawn dishwashing liquid* BUT make sure you only use a squirt in 5 gal of water im going to say about 3 tbl spoons. This will not only clean your floor but leave it shiny. If you want you can use Murphys for wood floors once a month for a great shine too. Hope this works for you .

Murphy's Oil Soap--gooood stuff. Been around for years.
This brings back a most pleasant memory of my grandmother---I don't remember how the conversation started, but she told me that when she was a child her mom would shampoo her hair w/ the Murphy's Oil Soap. She suggested I try it. I told her I would but didn't seem to get around to it. During a subsequent phone call she asked me if I had tried it. I promised I would. And I did. Fantastic shampoo!!! My hair had shine, body, and my scalp felt less dry. Great stuff!!!
God Bless her, I miss her!! Every time I see Murphy's Oil Soap I think of her. She probably has the angels cleaning their halos and harps with it!!
Good luck--with your floor! And your hair!!

You don't have to put soap on your wooden floor.Things like a Swifter mop would probably help. You can also wax your floor after you sweep it real good.

Here's another option:Sweep the floor very good make sure there's no dirt on the floor and then mop.Don't use to much soap and water.

LOL! Unless you want some broken legs... I wouldn't do it! You're home would be like a ice skating rink! I use Murphy's oil soap. It works good. You can't use to much cleaner on wood floors or you'll be sailing through the house. :)

I love my Hoover Floor Mate. It uses Old English cleaner and not only cleans the wood floors but dries them too! About $100 American dollars for machine but very worth it! (by the way, it vacuums the floor also)

Don't use soap -- you're having to work too hard. Use a tiny (cap full or less, otherwise it gets foamy and you have to deal with that) amount of PineSol in about two gallons of hot water. No need to rinse. Smells good, looks and feels clean.
