The one thing that works beyond question is large doses of Vitamin C. Two 1000 mg. tablets every two hours. Add 2 caps of Echinacea on the same schedule. Take one zinc lozenge per day. If you begin this at the first sign of a cold, and continue until bedtime, by tomorrow your symptoms should be gone. If not, continue for another day.

1000 mg. of C per day should be a good preventive. C strengthens the immune system.

OTC meds like Tylenol only mask the symptoms. They don't prevent or cure anything.

I have been taking vitamin C for years. The amount recommended for daily allowance is just enough to keep from getting scurvy. When I feel like I am getting sick, I take those Vitamin C packs, they generally have zinc in the dosage. I sip them with lemonade or Tea, 1 every few hours . Alternative medicine says , 500 milligrams per hour until stomach upset then back off and the more a body needs to heal, the more it will take for this to happen. I find that 6000 is a good number for me and will generally ward off a cold or flu.
