Unfortunately ....it's because we are technology greedy and used to having nice things for ourselves and our homes. So we spend every dang dime we get ...buying more stuff...because we are bored with the stuff we have..it's a vicious circle and it's just wrong...but they advertise too much and everything is just right there in your face so you think you have to have it.

I believe mainly it is because it is so expensive to live these days. Prices for just about everything have gone up, but not the wages. We still have to pay our bills, eat, buy clothing, gas!!!, etc., etc., and there is just very little money left over at the end of the month to save. Plus at least in my life, every time I save a little bit something unexpected happens and I have to use that money for repairs, medical expenses, or whatever it may be. When one lives paycheck to paycheck which a large number of people in this country do, it is hard to save.

how can you save money when the price of gasoline is rediculous...your wages don't increase, yet the cost of living does...there is no health care system in America, so a one hour sit in the emergency room with a ten second visit from the doctor costs you over 9 hundred dollars, insurance costs an arm and a leg, groceries cost, electricity, water, phone, you get to have a couple of luxuries like the internet, need I continue????

the answer is there in your question itself. they save little because they spend more.they want all the comforts which the modern technology gives.they r fond of new things which come to the market every day.not only that their life style is like that. the Indians r different . once they start earning they start saving. a part of their earnings. for many reasons. 1. for their old age.they want to live comfortably in their old age. 2. they want to leave something for their children. like a house, or some land etc. 3 for their daughter's wedding. in India still marriages are grand affairs. still fathers spend lakhs for their daughter's wedding.

Because of the culture they grew up in which is an overly materialistic environment. they don't know how to save money. You learn what your parents show you and if they cant control their spending, most likely so will u.

It is worth splurging, and it is known for a fact that splurging and saving creat the same sense of euphoria due to the surge of endorphins, the 'feel good' neurochemicals. This is only one life that we get so why not live upto the hilt??!!!

Because there are no luggage racks or trailer hitches on a hearse. You leave the way you came in. Naked and in some borrowed clothes.
