I have bad skin and always have to wear makeup, something which I hate doing. Its slightly scarred by acne from a few years ago but now its blemished and I always have open pores and as a result of that - blackheads. Everything I try really just does not work and I cannot afford the money to get a chemical face peel which really would sort out all my problems!

I really just want to be able to just wear a slick of mascara and get ready to take on the world!

Covering your skin in make up will not help you. Especially if you have open pores. They'll only get more clogged!! Your skin needs to breathe. Try not to wear foundation/powder so often. Try not touching your face during the day. You might not be noticing you're doing it but it brings all the dirt from your hands onto your face. I don't think a chemical peel will do you any good. That sounds harsh. You might just need a good facial.
**NEVER get a facial done using ultra sound. you will regret it** You can use a fading cream to get rid of the scars. Clinique has a really good soap bar. And if your skin gets greasy during the day, DO NOT put any more powder on top it if!! You'll get a hundred more black heads. Instead use those oil blotting sheets by Clean & Clear or Clinique.

Get a face mask to clean out your pores. Lots of the time the reason for bad skin is the makeup you wear. It clogs pores. Use a weekly face mask and try putting less makeup on. Also find a face wash which does not dry out your skin cuz this also causes the oil on your face to be unbalanced and makes your pores look big and open.

Caroline, one of the best ways to clean your skin is by using a facial scrub once a week, this is not the same as a facial wash as it has some rough particles in it. Some of these can be inexpensive but really effective. Try to get into the habit of removing your make- up completely. I tend to use soap and water then a cleansing lotion. Don't use too much moisturiser as this can make your skin greasy. You will be surprised how much cleaner you skin will be after using the facial scrub a few times.

At least see a dermatologist and get suggestions on how to manage the acne. There are oral medications you can take. I would load up on natural foods, low fat, no junk and lots of water. Use gentle cleansing with a buff-puff once or twice a day and check out some of the cosmetics that have alpha hydroxi in them because they will continutally take off the dead skin on your face. Moisturize after your bath. Seeing a professional will help alot.

Hi i know you probably feel a bare without your make up on, but really it is no good for your skin. Try a facial exfoliator, any type of scrub that is gentle on your skin. Boots do a no grain exfoliator. have you tried neutrogena pore refining range. I used them and they are brilliant and they do an exfoliationg wash. It is dear though but it does work. I only tried it because it was in a cheap store called sacers, but i think they cottoned on to how dear it really is and stopped selling it. But it is worth a try and its even better it it sorts your skin out.

OK - are you serious about this?

Then DO NOT even consider chemical face peels - please.

You need to start work from the inside - diet. It is an important fact that skin quality is dependent on good diet. You need a well balanced diet with penty of fruit, natural fibre, and probably - need to rebuild your digestive processes (most folks in US/UK and on similar Western diets need to do this). You can do this by clearing out your system (a detoxing intestinal cleanse is a good start - to clear out 'parasies' and bacteria that will actually be affecting how well you absorb the nutrients form your food that your skin needs - sounds YUK! but it is true...and MASSIVELY effective...You then need to use a good probiotic to get your system back-on-track)

You also need to keep well hydrated throughout the day - you may have heard the 2 litres advice before - its tough to get strted on but pays off in terms of improved clarity of thinking, concentration ability, less headaches...AND clearer more glowing skin. (NOTE: It MUST be good quality water with low levels of chemicals - not city tap water...use a good French mountain natural mineral water - like Volvic or Evian)

If you ave skin imperfections then use a non-chemical based skin serum treatment. Miessence is a 100% natural, certified organic brand that provide a range of ptroducts for skin and cosmetics that contain NO chemicals. You can check them out at their site at- http://www.saferalternative.com along with other useful information about why you should 'detox' your cosmetics. The skin serum or Ambrosia Essence - which are brilliant and extremely effective (OK - not cheap - but also not expensive compared with high priced and, frankly, questionable treatments like chemical peels)

What a lot of people do not realize is that due to their innate sensitivity to synthetic chemicals used in most skin care and cosmetics - this can actually make skin peoblems worse. It is a vicious circle...you need make-up to cover up large pores and acne marks...you use chemical based cosmetics which worsen your skin condition...great for the manufacturers cos they know you'll keep buying and trying their products!!!

By combining an improved diet, good hydration, and non-chemical based products... you REALLY should see a massive improvement...leaving you to work effectively towards your goal of a few 'lashings' of Mascara and nothing else - to face the world...(BUT make sure it is certified organic mascara - the only one I know if is also available from miessence, if you take a look at the products part of their site - Many people fail to realize how bad for them the chemical stuff they may currently use is for a sensitive area like their eyes!).

same problem here once before, I tried everything and nothing was working like I thought it should. Then last year I got proactive and it was like some kind of miracle. My face had no pimples, no discolor and was so smooth you would think I had makeup on. As for the black heads I think you just have to get remove the dirt and keep them gone with a good wash.... getting rid of them is the trick.

Dont use soap. Use baby wash and water only on your face. I know its hard to not wear makeup but it really wont help your skin. Try not to wear any for a couple of weeks and you will see the difference. Use really mild things on your face, baby lotion etc as moisturiser. Tinted moisturiser is better than foundation as it lets your sking breath. Good luck.
