I have noticed that when I make the effort to get a full night's sleep, I have marked improvements in my health. I don't mean that I just feel less sleepy. I read somewhere that if you don't sleep enough, your kidneys don't function properly, and you can feel ill from this. I tried sleeping more, and sure enough it makes a difference in how much water I retain, and my general health. Has anyone else see this to be the case, or am I imagining things? (Placebo effect?)

Absolutely! I've had the same results.

I attribute the results(feeling alert, better all-around health, kidney function included) to the commitment to a consistent sleeping regiment.

You are not imagining! I believe quality resting habits contributed to an overall improvement in my health.

Absolutely. I have had several doctors tell me the medical problems I have had would have been decreased or improved if I improved my quality of sleep. I've even been given medication for that!
