It is not your (my) India. It is our India. If everybody feels our India, things will change. First of all respect our National anthem. Nobody does it. Somebody has to ask people to stand up when national anthem is on air. Self discipline should be cultivated / educated in School level. Everybody should try to stand in a line in a crowded place even though it is cinema hall, recreation place etc. Bring up that discipline within individual from childhood. Then that "Me first" attitude will not be there. Nobody follows traffic rules. Everybody accelerates the speed of the vehicle when yellow glows. These type of self discipline should be taught in Schools and Colleges.

first, understanding why it is like that in the first place. when peoples lives depend on what job, place to live, what possessions they have , and those things are hard to get in India, and if you fail to get them , then where does that leave you? the competition for these things leads to corruption and the "me first" attitude. that is a normal reaction to the scarcity of commodities. change can only occur slowly . as the economy betters people will be more inclined to have a more generous human spirit.

These are the teething problems of a country that is coming out of years of subjugation and new found Democracy. Every day there is some improvement. It will take time for a Democratic country to mature and develop value systems. Americans took more than 250 years to reach where they are. Indian Democracy is in its teens yet!

you can't
western values are setting in and will continue to foster as long as the up and coming youth who are employed in the many call centers and other hi tech companies given them a sense of empowerment they never had, especially women, this in turn will slowly eradicate the class system that india has had in effect to keep the poor down and the rich the eleet class, and it's about time. those who are upward mobil will shun the past and take on new values which in turn will cuase unrest between the old guard ( those who like the system the way it is ) and the new guard ( those who rightfully see the old ways as repressive which they are ). viva revolution! go tamil tigers!

We must find our roots first.. Who we are and where are we from??? We must work for our country for the Good of us.. Vedantic literature, Swamiji's writings and Gandhi Ji's texts are to be made compulsory in educational institutions to make the young minds of our country the selfless ones, the brave ones, the bold ones.....
