The winner of tonight's programme gets a 6 month contract to play Maria in the Sound of Music at the London Palladium. It previews from 3 November.

The HDYSAPLM winner will do 6 performances a week with the other two shows being done by Emma Williams (who played Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bank when it was t the Palladium a few years ago). At the end of the six months, Emma will take over the lead part.

I don't know what two shows Emma will be doing but it is normally the midweek matinee and a Monday night that is done by the understudy (as is the case with Evita, currently playing) so if you go on Friday or Saturday evening you should get the winner.

My guess is it will be Connie - she has stood out from the start and although the other two are good, I don't think they would be able to cope with part 6 times a week.

Three Marias will battle it out on Saturday night for the starring role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's revival of The Sound of Music.

Connie Fisher, Siobhan Dillon and Helena Blackman have made it to the final of BBC1 show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?

The winner will appear on the West End stage as Maria, the singing nun played by Julie Andrews in the 1965 film.

The musical opens at the London Palladium on November 14.

Connie, 23, from Pembrokeshire, Wales, is the bookies' favourite to land the role in the live show.

Lloyd Webber decided to cast an unknown after Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson backed out.

The composer has been criticised for conducting the Pop Idol style auditions.

And he is said to have secretly signed up West End veteran Emma Williams for the part - she will share the performances with the TV show winner.

my guess would be that they will go straight into rehearsals for the musical and then go on stage there instead of a tour where they risk straining their voice etc. good luck tho.
