He plays for Inter Milan (Italian league) and he played today. You haven't seen him play for the national team because he was banned two games by FIFA for "instigating" your beloved Zidane.
By the way Materrazzi is a good soccer player despite what you may think however, I have to agree he is a bit of s h i t disturber.

He was banned for two matches. Maybe the coach will call him up for the next game, maybe not. We'll see. In any case, if he comes back, that's just going to mean more trouble for Cannavaro. Cannavaro hasn't been in form the last few games (for Italy and Real Madrid), and so covering Materazzi's *** is probably the last thing he wants to do right now.

Regardless of where Materazzi plays, he will be booed.

Look, as Materazzi provoked Zidane which made Zidane headbutt him FIFA gave him ban for a few matches. He will be back after that. Well, i dont really like him but he is indeed a very good defender after all.

He didn't play because he was punished because of his incident at the WC. He is still in the national team.

Well, he had this incident ( I don't know if you heard about it yet, it happened about 2 months ago) where he provoked another footballer to headbutt him and he got fined & banned from a couple of matches.
