Many old wives tales which I'm guessing youve heard all before, but basically if the baby doesn't want to come then theres not really a lot you can do. You could try sex (if it's still possible with your size), curries (or such like) foods, bumpy car ride, caster oil (check it is caster oil though - can't remember). If your really wanting to try have you discussed having your membranes swept with your Midwife?? could be an option, quite uncomfortable internal procedure but might work. Good luck and in the meantime get your feet up, sleep, get your bag ready and just hang around....sorry.

The baby will come when it wants to come babe I'm afraid! Don't listen to any old wives tales, often they're bloody dangerous or a load of old rubbish. Sit tight and wait, you'll know when they're ready to make their entrance in the world when the bump suddenly dips and the pressure on your bladder is unbearable! If its any consolation my cousin last year was so impatient for Thomas to arrive and on the day he was due it was pretty clear that he was not going anywhere! Within two days however he turned engaged and was born 8 hours later. Good luck!

Hi,
The old sayings are curry, sex, walking, fresh pinapple, rasberry teas. I tried all of these and none worked - the hospital even tried to induce me 3 times and my son didn't want to come!!!!!
My midwife told me that it really doesn't matter what you try to do, baby won't come unless s/he is ready unfortunately.
AND You will probably find that this is the most akward time for you :)
The hospital will let you go 2 wks over anyway and then will probably induce you.
Take advantage of the piece and quiet while you can, even though you are very uncomfortable!!!
Good Luck

if its not ur first baby , the head doesn`t have to be engaged as baby number 1 paved the way ... My second baby didnt get into position until labour started ...
As for how to encourage labour ... a vindaloo lol , and sex as the hormones in the sperm can have an effect on the cervix ...
good luck & hurry up baby lol

I tried the sex & the curry but didn't work - running up the stairs sideways is supposed to help bring on labour - but at the end of the day baby will appear when he/she is ready - good luck & enjoy your last few days of peace!!!

Don't it stresses the baby and can cause delivery problems, walking helps it stretches the muscles and the more the muscles stretch the baby will react and make its way down. Good luck hope everything goes well I've had three children and I've never forgotten this moment.

Apparently sex is good for this, the..ahem...man juice is supposed to loosen up the cervix. I have heard hot curries are good for speeding things up but you might want to think about all the pushing you'll be doing later.
Ultimately nature will take its course. Due dates, although pretty accurate, are still estimations and if the baby ain't ready, it won't be coming !
Good luck xxx

Just wait a few days. I felt nothing on my due date, but three days later I had everything within 24 hours, including my baby.
I know that its difficult but be patient. Babies rarely show up on their due date
Good luck for the birth and motherhood :)

HI THERE
the best way to bring on labour is a classic, sex!!!!!!!!!!
seriously, when i was overdue with my son, the midwife told me that sex was good for starting labour,as the same stuff that is in a mans seamen is also used when inducing you.
it does work, i was 4days over my due date,i tried curries,etc.. and then had sex, less than 10hours later my waters broke.
hope this helps?
