If all mums got together they would soon get this sorted, get all mums to boycot school dinners and give kids packed luches, if no kids ate the dinners they would want to know why and look into the dinners and hopefully find out what the kids really want.

We have the same problem here in America. They keep talking about giving the kids a healthy lunch, but its all talk. The food here is loaded with unhealthy fats and salt and preservatives. An yet they have the nerve to say that they are getting a healthy lunch. It's a disgrace and an insult to the taxpayers, as well as being very unhealthy for the children. Every day, they serve Frech Fries as a side dish, and they consider this a vegetable serving. What a joke.

I understand your question totally, via fact the two my little ones (10 and 15) are vegetarians. regrettably, maximum faculties DON"T have veggie wraps and salads. At my youngest daughters college, there is one lunch served each and on a daily basis. she will devour the nutrition approximately thrice a month, while they have bean and cheese burritos, grilled cheese sandwiches or mac and cheese. the the remainder of the time, the significant entree continually has meat. Spagetti with meatballs, yet in addition they upload meat to the sauce, pizza (has small bits of pepperoni), rooster nuggets, ribaque(?)on a bun, burgers, canines, etc. in the event that they might furnish greater advantageous than one determination, it would be high quality. As to the highschool student, maximum of youngsters confirm to attempt a vegetarian weight-alleviation plan while they hit severe college, that my daughter says the lines for salads are way too long to get nutrition formerly she has to return to type. So she gets a drink and eats while she gets homestead.

Quite frankly, the schools are just trying to provide a well balanced diet, as some homes (and I do stress SOME) only provide food to their children that a dog would eat! Many children I know are only fed on fast food at home, microwave meals, pizza, chips etc etc. Whist there is no problem with this type of food on occasion, to make it the normal diet is harmful. Why do you say that this rubbish is harming our kids? If it's a healthy diet, and kids won't eat it because all they are used to is fatty foods, then they need to be less fussy, and educated on healthy food at home. My son loves pizza, same as the next kid, but he also eats fresh veg, fresh fish, grilled chicken, salad etc etc as that is the diet he has been bought up on...........

i feel what jamie oliver did was amazing and he proved that if you feed kids good food then they will perform better in school grow taller and healthier and basicly we would have a better nation of people ,but from what i can see the schools havent made the effort they probly cut costs and the people who make the food prob havent got a clue but at the same time i feel those rough old bags are a disgrace if they felt like getting there kids food why not make them a packed lunch and worry about there own kids rather than create a spectacle.

My daughter's hot dinner consisted of macaroni and a cold boiled potato followed by a slice of fruit. That's all that was left as she was the last class in. So I put her on packed lunches. Wholewheat bread, fruit, cheese and a fruit juice. Now to be told that her lunchbox will be inspected by the same school that fed her macaroni cheese and a boiled potato. What a cheek!

Well, pull your finger out and make him a packed lunch then!!
I'm sick of parents whinging about this. If school dinners aren't right, then do something about it and campaign, or do it yourself! Like as not you're palming them off with a hot dinner that you're too lazy to cook for them in the evening.

I would have to disagree with you on this one. My childrens school has excellent school meals. The local authority issued a school meal chart of what they have each day, and it is an excellent well-balanced diet.
Example off the menu: Lamb tendersteak and gravy with boiled potatoes, country vegetables. - Afters are jam sponge and custard sauce.
Yummy! makes me want to go back to school.
