White socks are always naff / uncool / whatever.

White socks are ok only when you're playing sports, or jogging, or any other sport activity. White socks are NOT ok on all other occasions. They are even less ok when people try to look like they are going running, or just came back from running, especially when they obviously don't look the part.

OK, maybe white socks, knee high, were OK in the British Indies, they were even compulsory.

Today, when the leg shows (shorts), it is more cool to either NOT wear any socks, or to wear socks that can't be seen because they just cover the foot.

And when the leg does not show (pants), normal socks are what looks best, never white though. Now there are various schools, should the sock match the shoe (looks a bit weird), match the pants (looks a bit weird), match the shirt / t-shirt (looks a bit too organised at least for a straight guy) - sometimes it is better to chose a colour different from the clothes and shoes, a discrete one of course.

Now with black shoes, I find that black socks work quite well.

But NOT white socks! Please! Else why waste money on nice-looking shoes?!
