I married a Turk in Istanbul. It is not an easy task!!! We were sent to 5 different offices in Istanbul in the process. Your Embassy should have some info.
As I recall, you have to go to a special police station in the district he was born and get some sort of paper, proving he is not already married and is free to marry. You have to get 5 pictures each, go down to the marriage office in the district you live in and make an appontment to be married. Make sure you get the International Marriage Certificate that has everything written in 12 languages.
Word of warning.....there are alot of opportunist Turks who will marry a Brit. etc. to get out of the country, especially if they have not completed their military service. Think very carefully about what you are doing!!! Believe me, I know the score all too well over there :(

If your fiance' is a Muslim, first he MIGHT ask you to convert to Islam, your name and religion would be changed. And then you will have to perform Nikah according to Islamic Sharia rituals.
If he is not a Muslim, then the whole world is open to perform the marriage anywhere, in any way. It is a very private affair. It depends how your partner takes it. If he is a moderate muslim, he might go ahead and straight go to the Registrar's office, which should be the best way I think. Any way, God bless you and all the best to you both.

hes using you,i work with turkish men and every single one either left their english wifes or having affairs. he using you,i would suggest you don`t marry him at all. Turkish men are difficult and set in their ways. your life will be destroyed
