By opening the batting Dravid is doing injustice to himself. He is the best one down player. He is the backbone of the team. Exposing the backbone to the uncertainties of the new ball is stupid idea. Besides that Sehwag is the best opening player right now. Greg is spoiling his carrier too. What Sehwag is going to do at no. 4 or 5. Both Tendulkafr and Shewag are attacking batsman who can score quick runs. However, India do not have any dependable batsman to score quick runs towards the end except for Tuvaraj Singh. Instead of exposing both the attacking batsman at the top order, Dravid want one of the two to bat in the middle order to score quick runs in slog overs where India have been failing very often. Moreover by Dravid opening he can give solidity to the batting by keeping one end tight and allowing Tendulkar at the other end to score quick run.
I think it is a sensible move and should be appreciated,

india does nt want an openor who gets out in 5 overs. it needs a consistent batsman.. if u check the last 2 year statistics u can find that in the matches which dravid scored atleast a half century is won by india. if dravid fails india fails. i doubt india's condition after dravid's retirement will be like bangladesh or kenya

its not dravid...its MR GREG CHAPELL who wants him 2 do so...for 2 primary reasons..one is to ruin the indian side...and the other to ruin sehwag's career just as he did to gaguly by playing him down the order...i guess all indians must hate chapell...i am a pakistani...but i stil hate him as he is not being kind to team india

Rahul dumb is the most humble servant of his Master Chappal and whatever chappal would say he will do that blindly because being a dumb he does not posses any mind
And then he is following every move of Ganguly so it is necessary for him to do so but he has forgotten that a mind is also needed for copying, which he does not have.

He is far better techniqued than Shewag and as Sachin is back (to take the role of Shewag), one attacker, one accumulator theory works fine .. particularly against an aussie attack with overcast conditions and less score to defend, they are lethal. It is better to consolidate rather than to burst and lose few wickets, which will punish in case DL method comes into play.....
