I always try to be polite & try not to make judgemental comments about people - However I have no quarms about making an exception in this case !

I saw the news report myself and I could not believe what the mothers were doing. What a bunch of knuckle dragging brainless F***wits.

They are the type who women who will be complaining in a few years time kids are morbidly overwieght and they will say 'I've no idea why!'

They are being told by government, by food experts, by supermarkets, by Jamie Oliver that this kind of diet is UNHEALTHY & WILL CAUSE THEM PROBLEMS LATER ON IN LIFE and they do not seem to care.

It's all very well saying 'It what the kids want' but most kids, given the option would go for junk foods & sweets - AS A PARENT IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A GOOD DIET - They are just undermining the hard work of others.

If they are happy to do this what else are they happy to do - supply their teenage kids with Cigarrettes & alchol? After all 'It's what they want'

I would say that the school needs to provide the children with more time to eat their lunch. No matter how good the food they provide, eating hastily is not good for the digestion. By the time children get in line and get their lunches, they may have only 15 minutes to eat before it's time to go back to class. This is forcing the children to gulp down their food without proper chewing. The healthiest food does no good if it's not chewed properly.

These People are "Sickening" every effort is being made to care for and help their children to avoid unhealthy eating , which after all is the responsibilty of Parents , Perhaps these are the same type of people who don,t know where their children are at night when they should be at home -- not getting drunk , smoking dope and causing mayhem & unhappines for folk who only want a peacefull life .

Yes they are. If the school was serving them unhealthy, fatty fods, the Parent would probably protest saying they want healthy foods for their kids. Now that the schools are serving healthy foods, the parents are serving them unhealthy foods. You can never win with parents like them. Those parent must be making money from this, otherwise I doubt that they would be doing it. I saw the BBC news y'day, and those parents were taking orders from other kids.

People complain that kids are getting out of control, and are no longer eating healthy etc.... But as we can see, its the PARENTS fault.

They would argue that they are giving their children a choice, but I agree with you they are encouraging them to be unhealthy. Jamie Oliver isn't trying to take away their children's choice he is trying to get the best out of our nations children by giving them a balanced diet while at school. What they do outside of school isn't his business if they want that cr** why don't they have it then?

OMG, this was on Newsround yesterday and I was disgusted!!! Those stupid bint fishwives, can't they see that people are trying to do the best for their kids where the parents themselves have failed???

I am Outraged of Manchester. I can't believe how stupid some people are. Wow, those kids are growing up with great role models. That's if they don't die of malnutrition or a heart attack in the meantime.

Yes, this was on the news yesterday. (Mothers approving of their kids rejecting healthy school dinners and giving them junk because quote-it's what they want-unquote))On the one hand it pushes the buttons for all those -I hate the nanny state, I have a problem with the government telling me what to do, stop interfering with my personal freedoms- type people but just goes to show that being an adult and a parent does not stop you being irresponsible.

It is the parents responsibility. The state are always looking for opportunities to step in and take child rearing responsibilities away from parents.

Stupid yes! and even worse making money out of children. What they're doing could eventually kill them. Is it OK for drug dealers then to offer their services to kids?

The school should have snipers mounted in turrets on the perimeter of the school. These people only ever implement half of the solution.
