Just about anything can become a mode of expression. Drawings are often used to carry or convey subjective meanings, construals, or perceptions. In psychology, for example, a number of projective tests such as the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) and the House, Tree, Person (HTP) are based on the assumption that what you draw and how you draw it are 'projections' or outward manifestations of beliefs, meaning systems, and other internal concepts. Drawings are also used to assess whether a certain individual might be 'afflicted' with a mental disorder through careful analysis. Drawing activities in children are helpful in gauging existing and developing concepts. The concept of GOD for example have been studied in children in middle childhood through a drawing activity.
