I guess what they want you to do is go around and see what clothes the teens are purchasing and wearing so when you do the report, you can write about what sells and what wont sell.

You definitely need to ask your teacher for more clarification because only he or she knows exactly what is expected of you.
It sounds like you are just being asked at this point to observe what you see out there that is available and take some notes...I would note price and possibly find some similar items at different stores so you can compare them. However, I really urge you to get better directions from your teacher. This assignment is vague.

I think it means draw up a survey asking people the age group they are and what clothes they think are suitable for teenagers. Perhaps you could find pictures to display different styles of dress. Show many different extremes of dressing ie: short skirts vs long skirts...

make a questionnaire and give it to teenager about what clothes they usually like but for girls and boys and then you can write a evaluation on your questionnaire and write your findings.
*what was popular
*what was unpopular
*did a surtain type of teen seem to prefer a surtain clothing and why
e.g do girl prefer jeans or do 15 year old wear belts more.
*ask a variety of question
*ask personal questions to the end of questionnaire
*do a draft questionnaire first and think about what you will ask and you can also elvautate that and explain why you didn't use surtain questions in the finished darft.
also use grafts to illustate your fingings

It sounds like you didn't get very good instructions or you were daydreaming in class.
Here are some suggestions.
List appropriate clothing for school, pants, shirts, t shirts, shoes, skirts, sox etc.Jackets.
Pricing, appropriate words on clothing. You are a lot younger than I am. But maybe these suggestions will get you started.

Chose the clothes that are suitable for your age, occasion, time, and place.
Transfer your answer to your notebook or in a piece of paper and pass it to your teacher or professor.
