I heard it was up to Euros tenthousand . Any views ?

Theoretically of course you should be able to carry as much as you like as we do at least nominally have pretensions to being a Single Market ( Jacques Delors initiative back in 1992 ) ?? -- or has that all petered out ??

Generally the thumbrule as per 2001 notification is 5000 USD or any currency equal to that amount.

I've heard exactly 9000 dollars or the euro equivalent. It may be 10 by now. No you can't carry as much as you want. They will tax you on it at every country. Basically taking some of it from you. They think you are trying to launder money through countries.
My freinds got caught and in trouble for carrying about 50,000 in cash each. Use a credit card. Call the airports or an airline to be sure how much you can carry on the airplane overseas.

I suppose you can carry as much cash as you like, but don't come running to me when it gets stolen or lost. I thought that the general idea was to take enough to use for a day or two and then use travellers cheques or credit cards - much safer.
Unless you're laundering money.................---

you can carry as much as you want, but if you go above a certain amount fixed by every single state (for example, in italy is 12500€) you should do a declaration about the amount of money you're carrying out.

I don't believe there is a limit as such, but the wheelbarrow you carry the money in would have to go in the hold. I prefer my debit card.
