when i start up the comp my ports work fine, but if i move the laptop a bit it'll stop working. if i switch ports it'll work till i move the laptop again. if i reboot it then it'll work again. any ideas on what it can be? thank you

Sounds like your motherbourd is failing buying a new system is cheaper than getting it fixed.

This happened to my roomate with 3 laptop's he has had over the years (all of them were the same brand) His last laptop was in the process of dying when it got bumped slightly from a deck of poker game cards being placed on the same table it was on, literally caught on fire melting the built in LCD on one side the harddrive did survive amazingly. Have fun shopping for the new computer.
I hope this is helpful information. If I were you i would start backing up my information yesterday to prepare for the irreversable hardware failure coming your way...

Just sounds like they are worn out to me, don't make a good connection. Try purchasing some new USB cables (inexpensive).
