I lean toward agreeing with a few of your correspondents, that not all do... but we always have two sides too the coin... you might well say why do muslims move to the west if they hate it so much... but then again we also have the mass western wingers that ask the question why do we keep letting them in, only to nip off for a holiday, or buy a second holiday home in a muslim country!

We also have to recognise that we in the west have done our fair share in exploiting the natural wealth of some of the muslim and non muslim nations... we are the ones in fact that have took minerals from the land, and exploited the cotton pickers to the point of poverty...

Good Question... I didn't want to use answers anymore, but felt drawn to your question, as you well know, we in the world should be all united in our stance for Peace... this starts with a simple education and understanding of each others cultures...

So in a world of threats and chaos, what was the Pope thinking about when he came out with those comments about Islam... showing his true Nazi colours! This is why we have a world of hate... because religion can't help but stick it's oar in where it is not needed! We are not all religious, but all suffer the repercussions of such nonsence!

I imagine that most muslims migrate to America because they don't, in fact, hate America and all things West. Perhaps some of them do, but need a job badly enough to go West anyhow, and unfortunately a minority of them came to commit terrorist acts.

I've read the answers to your question, so far, and everyone is missing the point. There is a vast difference between the average Muslim and the extremists. It is a minority that hate America, etc., but the average Muslim wants nothing to do with the extremists. They migrate for several reasons, one of them to get away from the poisoned ideology of the extremists.

sometimes people come here thinking it will be great but then they get an idea of what our warts look like, then they are not so sure. Also we have freedom of speech(to some extent) people take that right seriously.
There are trade offs for living in different countries and cultures. In an underdeveloped country you will have job problems/lack of education for kids/lack of medical care etc, but for instance here inUS we have free education. Of course its going downhill.....On the other hand some countires have free higher education where as we have dwindling funds for those who wish to attend college and are not well-off. Health care is becoming more difficult ot obtain here in the US and we are very poor at preventive health, (and costs go up thru the roof due to numerous lawsuits)though we're good at saving your life once you've ruined your health w/bad diet/alcohol/fast driving etc. It's such a mixed bag. Many foreigners are no longer seeking the US as a destination, for instance Filipino nurses in need of work were in great demand here, where we have a shortage, but due to immigration long waits, they now prefer Muslim and other countries. Alot of Arabs used to come to our private US universities and pay top dollar out of state tuition, but out of fear of discrimination , have gone to other arab states instead. As we know, India is becoming the new Silicon Valley and a popular medical treatment destination for westerners who cannot get affordable elective surgeries done here and /or dental work by skilled doctors and dentists in state of the art facilities there. So it may be they will stop coming or it has already started -showing that our economy and way of life is not the "gold standard" like before.May be we'll be begging to goto China??

A man with a sound mental faculty will not hate any community or nation. There is tendency among some people that do not think before they speak. It is apparent from some of the answers of the question. We are responsible citizen of the world. All the Muslim countries are co-operating with USA. American people are supporters of Muslims. They have openly criticized American policy of attacking Iraq. I can assure my friend that this is not the case. Finding fault is a bad habit.

Not all muslims hate the US or all things western. And the western societies offer a lot more of that they want than their homeland does.

It's an individual thing. I don't like Bin Laden and he's muslim. But that doesn't mean I hate muslims. As to why the US is hated by many muslims? You'll have to ask them. But if you are from a western culture you may not see the logic in their answers.

The ones who find success here and other western countries don't hate the west. They actually like the freedoms we have and that's why most leave their home country. Those who hate the west are doing us a favor by staying in their countries and protesting over there.

first of all let me introduce my self, am a Muslim adult and very proud to be so, I am Egyptian and I am a construction engineer.
second, I think there is a big mistake when you say Muslims hate America and all things west, who told you so? I am sure you had been cheated. we respect all mankind regardless their nationalities, religions or colors "come and visit Cairo you your self shall find a big mixture of all people living together in peace".
and do not forget there are a lot of Americans and western Muslims "born and raised in their own countries" and sure they do not hate their home towns and their fellows.
if you mean the middle eastern when you say Muslims so as being one of them let me assure you that we respect all westerns but at the mean time we hate some governments strategies.
specially what the U.S did in our territories the last couple of years ans some American understand our point of view.

To play devils advocate: this is a generalization. However, I have not witnessed the muslim community's outcry or outrage over what the terrorists have done or continue to do (or did) in this country or any other. If I recall correctly one of the perpetrators of 9/11 was witnessed in a topless dance bar before his act of terror, and if I am not mistaken that is against what they claim is their religion. So, in answer to your question, they, like all other organized religions, are hypocrites.
