Because deep in themselves/ourselves they/we believe that such guy can be better and that it might be up to us to make them better.

I believe that every person has good side although sometimes it is very deep inside, sometimes too deep. But... love and care are sometimes enough. In most of the cases not, but sometimes yes.

Simply, we believe that we can change them to better.
(Yes, I know that they didn't ask to be changed.)

But I think inately, it has to do with the mind and what it desires. It is desired to be loved. The attention and the status gained by having a boyfriend is desired around the board.

And frankly, the biggest losers are most often the ones that put themselves out there for the women to grab the most. They don't have much going for them, but they do use what they do have well.

And the women take them in, because they desire a boyfriend and the things that go in hand with having one, not necessarily aware of a lot of other things in the relationship.

These women arn't really sizing up who's the best guy in the long run, or real things in a relationship. It's for show, they want an attractive, confident guy.

This partially agrees with the concept of older women being more attracted to good, not bad boy men. They've already had their experiences with the losers, and they've failed them time and time again. Now it's time for a real relationship, even though one is obviously harder to have.

A lot of women are into that bad boy thing. Or they think they need a big meat-head to protect them or make them feel like a woman. Sometimes these losers are real cons and women are taken in by them. I was manipulated by a guy like that, never again! Also, there are girls with such low self esteem that they will grab anyone who will have them. If you know a girl like this, tell she is making a big mistake!

Women goes for the man signalling the strongest survivre qualitys as psychopaths get all the women they want (not the mad variety but the succesful).
The gypsy or the traveling hobo CAN send a lot of such signals an so she-often-are oriented towards the 'dangerous' men because the 'nice' ones bore her.
(but she want a safe guy later on to raise the kids)

Losers, very often, are quite charming individuals when you first meet them. Frequently they don't hold steady jobs and they move around a lot. Very often living with friends or relatives who will take them in, until they burn their bridges with them! To make sure they are able to secure employment when they need money and a roof over their head, they have learned to lay on the charm and "sell themselves" to others. This is also a tactic they use when they are trying to get the attentions of a woman. Women who are immature or in need of attention and/or acceptance will fall right into his trap at the drop of a hat. Before she knows it she is in deep, making excuses for him, taking care of him and possibly supporting him.

If she does get fed up and decides to leave, the loser will usually win her back a time or two with a bunch of empty promises. In fact, he may even get a job or help her out, etc. until the honeymoon phase wears off; then it is back to the same old thing. In the mean time he has convinced her she can not make it without him. Very often, it takes a woman a long time to leave this type of relationship,....especially if he is also abusive.

Low Self-Esteem surfaces with jerks but they have High Self-Esteem with nerds and geeks that make themselves out to be easy conquests.

People naturally like a challenge and get bored easily with people that are easy. When you have a challenge like a bad boy, they keep the woman wondering vs. nice guys that are easy to figure out and accommodating.
