Promise is a commitment. One have to fulfil it with all his strength and willpower on the issue which one had committed. It is not necessary to commit it with others one can also promise to himself like some people make resolution on some important days that they will never speak lie again, they will drop their habit of smoking etc etc. But only who have confidence on himself with a great willpower can stay on with their commitment or promise.
