Some people are naturally nosy, whilst others are just lonely. The lonely people mean no harm and in time you can tell the difference between the two, though unfortunately both are equally annoying.

I believe people to be busy-bodies because they have a dull life. They want to be the first to know everything and the first to tell every body. Tell 'em some far fetched unbelievable story...and let 'em run with it. They'll make a fool of themselves and you can sit back and enjoy the ride. Maybe they'll think twice about being a busy-body again...

Its just in their nature I guess.I have found some areas of the country people are nosier than others,take the West Country,they will just come out and ask any question they want to know.e.g. Who are you,how many children have you got,where do you bank.

It inflates their sense of self importance ...if u r involved in a lot of peoples' lives u feel connected ...maybe even a stakeholder ...and maybe just a little more imortant. Some peoples' self image and self worth is attached to who and what they know ...society tells us that being involved ...being a contributor ...is valuable :)
