There are about 500 million Christians in the world. There are more than a billion Muslims. A crusade has been going on ever since Islam began. What we need is to stop the whole thing.
The pope was correct in what he said, but he left out the other half, which is that Christianity, too, has had its centuries of blood and gore, persecuting and murdering innocent people for not believing in Christianity. Even America, which was originally populated by fanatical religious people from England, was known for its bloodletting and the fanatical "Puritans" of old (who still live in the fanatical puritans of today, known as the fundamentalists). If the pope wants to rail against violence and religion, he should condemn the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims--not only the Muslims.
On the other hand, the Muslims are really a childish, touchy bunch of weirdos. If it's not one thing (pictures of Mohammed, the pedophile), it's another (the pope's commentary). We'd all be better off if we could stop these ongoing religious wars, get rid of the monotheistic religions altogether--the whole lot.

I'm pretty certain that would be a big no no on his part because the whole idea of genocide and all being frowned upon. Also, I'm pretty sure I dislike the Pope, so I know I wouldn't listen even if he did call for a crusade. Though, it does seem like the Islam people freak out over every little thing.

No, the pope included should see hoe skewed orginized religion has become... Islam is a very pecefull religion being ruined by tr the negative prpaganda being spread about it... As with all humans, religious or not we are not perfect and those who do practice rligion are all sinners we are flawed. One of Jesuses' best lessons was when he saved person about to be stoned to death. He said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." This is so simole yet so profound. We sit, we blame, we proclaim our way or no way. I fall short every day and sin just as others but I will not condem or dislie anyone who is different from me,,,,The catholic church has changed so much I find myself attendinf mass so little..The preists standing on the pulpit casting stinos daily.. Pointing at gays, premarital sex, etc... and the list goes on... And what about abortion.. How many abortions has georgie busg stuoed. Can you imagine the guilt of a girl who made this choice and then deciding to come bak to church.. If she comes on the wrong day she may just run out and jump off a bridge. We need to love, we need to follow those 10 simple rules.. We need thr government to step aside.. I often wonder what Thomas Payne would say from his perch in thr heavens..

No, the Pope has no reason to apologize, he quoted a 14th century emperor and it was taken out of context. I know of no other religion in recent history that has been as militant, radical, and terroristic as the Islamic radicals. Almost all terrorist acts have been in the name of Islam, all beheadings, suicide bombing, and torture has been in the name of Islam. The rest of the world should demand an apology from the Islamic clerics, and a pledge for them to stop the senseless violence done by these so called true believers.
The following was provided by another member in response to a similar question, it seems to reinforce the propensity toward violence.
Ishaq:544 “Muhammad commanded the people to prepare for the foray [raid, incursion, sortie, attack, or assault]. The Messenger informed his troops that he was going to Mecca. He ordered them to prepare themselves and ready their equipment quickly. He said, ‘O Allah, keep spies and news from the Quraysh until we take them by surprise in their land.'” Fundamental Islamic organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda offer the same prayer today.
Ishaq:544 “Hassan incited the men, reciting: ‘This is the time for war. Don't feel safe from us. Our swords will open the door to death.'” And so it would be forevermore.
Qur'an 9.5 “When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, beleaguer them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”

Hi !
Pope did not speak about crusade… The pontiff did not endorse that description, but he did not question it, and his words set off a firestorm of protests across the Muslim world.
All is pretext to say anything.
Pope would have spoken about the pythagorean theorem, it was similar, one would have to find an analogy with the crusade.
Cheers, Mr. West

It's funny they are demanding an apology for offending them. Grow up. Get a life. I'm offended every day and no one apologizes to me. Of course they're liable to fly a plane into the Vatican if he doesn't do what they want.
