• Weight reduction: this mod costs nothing and improves accelleration, braking, cornering and fuel economy. You'll notice a huge difference in the car's performance if you can drop 150 - 200 lbs by stripping the interior and soundproofing out.

• Advance your base timing, and run high octane fuel. Your engine will operate more efficiently the more your timing is advanced. If you push your timing too far your engine will ping, signaling you to either increase your fuel octane or retard your timing.

• Nitrous. Bar none, the biggest bang for your buck. Buy a wet kit, you shouldn't have a problem running a 50 shot in your car.

• VTEC head swap: Used Honda engines are cheap, cylinder heads even cheaper. Do a Google search for "VTEC mini me swap", for more info on this popular swap.

If you sell that rundown DX and use the $700 you might be making payments on a new LS-2 powered GTO sixspeed 400 horsepower and 400 lb.ft torque. Now you will look great driving around in a V-8 in Califorina. And Not just some whimpy civic dx.

ground your engine. it only costs $5-10 for wires or go on ebay for grounding kits like the buddy club condensor. Ground your throttle body with your battery, your negative grounds for your computer and more ground wires from the engine to the chasis of the car. It has been dyno proven on many honda car sites to increase horsepower anywhere from 2hp to 10hp all for $5-10. Its not much but its just about free hp. Even if you don't feel improvement, have more ground only improves the over all flow of electricity through out your whole car

exaust system

air filter

should boost power. Air filter being cheapest.

if you want real power - get a V8. you are working with a 4 cylinder eh. It does not matter if it is a 200hp, that hp is at 5500 RPM and we are talking about wrecking engine RPM for long periods. Again if you want power V8

bosh patinum +4 plugs help on 4 cylinders, a performance ignition should help the most though, MSD makes great ignitions but theres many others out there for honda.
