I have Paul McKenna's book and cd course called instant confidence as I am a little on the shy side however I find I cannot relax sufficiently when I am listening to the cd.

I find his book very useful and it has helped however I feel I would get even better results if I were able to use the cd that comes with the book.

Are there any techniques anbody knows where I could put myself under and then listen to his cd.

it is a control thing. when i was younger i could not be hypnotised either. keep trying to relax and make sure you feel comfortable with plenty of time, try candles or music or scents to keep the environment around you as relaxing as possible. maybe you find it hard to sleep too? it is hard to switch off the brain but it is possible and like most things practice will help

Be every, very careful. I used to do a lot of self-hypnosis and really screwed myself up. I used it for useful stuff like stopping hiccoughs and coughing fits, but I also used it to suspend my sense of time while waiting for the bus (I used the bus as a trigger to bring me out), and I did other silly stuff.

The best way to get self confidence (in my view) is the following:-
1) Stop any negative thoughts about yourself. Everyone has faults, you are no different.
2) Do not compare yourself with other people or try to be like them. You are best at being you.
3) Learn to accept and like yourself as you are. Expect other people to do the same.
4) Get out more. Join clubs or go on courses (much better than night clubs and pubs).
5) Practise listening to people and show an interest in them. The more you learn about the other person, the more interesting they will find you. The less you say about yourself, the more intrigued they will be. Do not be too open too early.

Human beings naturally go into a state of alpha--brain--wave hypnosis, twice a day.

That is, upon the process of falling asleep, and then later the process of waking up in the morning.

So try to fall asleep listening to his tapes. In the morning, put them on as soon as your alarm clock gets shut off. Reset your alarm for a 20 minute snooze, and listen to your cd then.

Yes, start doing breathing exercises. I think you are too afraid of letting go entirely, that you want to keep control over things and that is why you cannot pull the switch to relaxation. Try every day for ten minutes to breathe in through your nose, as deep as you can, and to breathe out through your mouth, as long as you can. This helps to fill your lungs completely and helps your body and mind to relax more.

I am a hypnotist myself even though i specialise in past life regressions. what your trying to do is self hypnosis, and although this sounds weird, look into trance work that various religions use. as for your self confidence, find true friends, dont give a f*ck what others think of you and find something your willing to die for.

"look into my eyes, not around my eyes, but into my eyes, You are under, 1 2 3"

did that help?
