KL is the city that never "sleeps". So, if you have a long term plan of staying, Penang would be the place. Penang might not have all the best clubs or malls but hey, its long term you're seeking right?

In my opinion, the cost of living doesnt make much difference here in KL ir Penang. Therefore, your reason for staying should also count as it is long termed.

However, you you prefer to stay in a more laidback lifestyle, Sarawak or Sabah is an option but if you wish to have all things within your reach yet not as hectic, try Shah Alam, Selangor.

Long term stay in Penang. The food is great, friendly people, jungle tracking, beautiful beaches with 5 star hotels and apartments, the rent are cheaper for apartments, 5 star hotels by the beach will only cost u USD 50 per night, and apartments by the beach will cost u USD 500 per month fully furnished in Batu Ferringhi. Some happening dance clubs are plenty. At the same time u should visit KL for a few days to get the taste of a complete Malaysia. And not to forget u have to go to the Borneo islands (Sabah & Sarawak) where you will get to experience the lifestyles of the tribes.

KL. Penang is mainly good for food and beaches. KL has more things to do and exposure will be better. Cost of leaving is about the same.

Being a KL-ite myself, I'd to say, well... KL of course what else lol=P
Bias? You bet! Seriously, if living in the city is more of your "schtick", then why not?
Basically it's the same like any other major capital cities in the world. It ain't perfect but it's been home for me at least for the past 2 decades.
But if you're into a laidback, island "la, la" lifestyle, then head on over to Penang. It's actually a popular choice among Malaysians to retire later in life. A little slow for me. Your choice, though.

Penang! KL is more of if you want to work there. It's majorly crowded and traffic jams are killers. Plus, there's not much stuff to do there besides shop and work. Penang on the other hand, is a more relaxed enviroment, people are way friendlier, food is amazing shoping complexes are great and bountiful, schools too.

It depends on what you want. If you are a person who loves food, penang is definitely the place to be in. If you like island life, go for Penang.

Depends on what your interests are. The plus side of Penang - beautiful beaches, good and cheap food, relax lifestyle, lower costs of living.

The plus side of KL - more clubs & pubs, more activities relating to the arts like plays & musicals, all the amenities of city living.
