People tend to tip at a bar more as their purchase price is small and they always get alot of loose change back. Who wants a pocket full of coins. But diners tend to tip less and not often as they have paid a higher price for their meals. They probably feel less inclined to tip as they've parted with alot more money.

Hello ........
Why have you taken a waitress job ? for the Wage or for the tip ?
I think that firstly you take the job for the wages so firstly do your job good and maybe the Tips from Locals will follow. But , just think a little , I do not know what is your wages where you are working but here , in Australia , a waitress get about $ AU 20.00 per hour and the locals that probably know it , think that is that is more than they make them self and that is enough .
I have a tendency to agrees with them too .....Sorry
But continue to do a good job they maybe come to it...
Good Luck

It's not just Native Americans! You may notice it more from them because you see more Native Americans, but many ethnic backgrounds are poor tippers. Some cultures just don't tip. And we just gotta live with that and pray for the George's.

Its true unfortunately. Its racism they would be tipping you if you were also indun. When I served I could count on running my butt off and getting no tip so i got out the hot sauce and spiked their food with it after sending it back twice and getting it back "hot" they started not sitting in my serving area. If you don't have that option don't work so hard when they sit in your area give minimal service save yourself some frustration. When my friend came to visit the town I live in she said you don't have to worry about race issues here the blacks and whites love each other they all hate the indians. Its sad but will probably continue until the end of time. And of course its not enough Indians get free healthcare and medicines, that they often get free housing and tax breaks, free school supplies and school clothing vouchers, special discounts on auto tagging. If they are on the rolls of some of the richer tribes monthly checks. And access to all the services I can get from the government plus indian commodities. Scholarship programs as well as tutoring. Get over it they don't have to tip.

There is no stereo type with this since many Native American cultures don't tip because they feel its already been given by the creator and service is part of a collective custom in tribes for centuries. However more modern generations living in the dominant society do tip and are more noticeable in many jobs.
