Windows XP firewall. Perfectly adequate. I never notice it: there's no reason I should if it's a good firewall.

I use JETICO and I vouch for it. It is small, lightweight and uses a small memory footprint. It has intrusion detection system built in. After all it is a freeware and better than paid firewalls. Please visit www.firewallleaktester.com for a comparison of most of the available firewalls or take a self test to find out how good your firewall is. I recommend COMODO as well, but is heavy.

Yeah,

I protect my Mac Computer with a home made OpenBSD 3.9 firewall/router it's running on a stripped down pentium 4 I
bought for $140 from 123compute http://www.123compute.ca/ I bought the extra ram and 2 compatible ethernet cards and ordered the openbsd 3.9 cdrom http://www.openbsd.org.

I installed openbsd on it and configured the box as a firewall/with my own customized rules. Started it up and ran tests everything was stealth.

Behind the openbsd box I placed an alphashield hardware firewall as an extra barrier.

I use ZoneAlarm, have been for about 5 years now with no problems. I also use Ad-aware 6.0, no problems with that either.
