Figs contain an extremely high amount of fibre. They have more fibre than any other fruit or vegetable. Other high fibre foods include bran, wholegrain breads, stewed and dried fruits such as prunes, vegetables and legumes such as baked beans and lentils. You should be aiming for 35 to 40g of fibre a day on a high fibre diet. If you are consuming large amounts of fibre you need to make sure you drink plenty of water.
