If you have a mac, then you can assign commands to them, open widgets, set contrast (and on some models, set volume), set brightness, and bring up the window commands.

They usually specific functions in specific programs. In a program I use F11 is Escape, F10 is Help, etc....

it really depends on what u are doing....
it is used for different commands...like Alt+F4=close

Those are function keys on your keyboard............If u donno what these do then go to google and search for basic details of computers and you will know what each key does..........sorry i dont have time to explain what each key does.................
