There are a wide range of theories for the origin of life. To understand some of the principles , having a knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry is a great help.

The formation of lipid(fatty oils) bilayers would have been important for example in creating the first cells because this would help contain some of important chemical reactions, like replication of DNA, RNA and proteins.

The molten rock was just lava, like that from volcanoes. Other changes occured and the lava cooled and water formed. The life. Bada bing.

There are many theories but my favorite is that, bacteria came from meteors and eventually adapted into what you see before you.
