Personally, I never have.
Just doing 1 of those is tiring enough for one day.
But, yeah, some do.
You can water-ski on a lake near the ocean or snow-ski in the mountains in the morning, then head out to the ocean to surf in the afternoon the same day.
But you'd be VERY tired at the end of the day!

YES! Absolutely. A very common thing to do among young guys in Southern California in the Winter months. You can surf Huntington Beach and then make the drive to Snow Summit near Big Bear in less than 3 hours. if you surf at sunrise for 2-3 hours, then make the drive, you can start skiing right after lunch for 2-3 hours then make the drive home in time for dinner. I have done it a few times!

Actually, there is a ski resort in the San Bernadino Mountains not far from LA, and if you wanted you could ski and surf in the same day.
You could probably do it in the Bay area too, it would just be a longer drive up to Tahoe, and it would be colder for surfing outside the Bay.

I don't talk about skiing and surfing, and I'm in California. I don't live anywhere near the ocean, and skiing is in the hills an hour and a half away. Sorry.

You can do anything, with enough money. I'm sure there are some rich Californians out there who ski and surf. Maybe they fly to Europe for pie. Now that would be great. (and now I want pie...)

Kiwi's can and do. I would love to live in a place where I would day hike up to the summit of a mountain, ski down it to my bike. Ride my bike to the sea and then surf the rest of the day until sunset.
New Zealand must be AWESOME!
