I quit for my 5 kids. I was up to almost 2 packs a day & knew that I was filling my lungs ( & their's too!!!) with cancer causing toxics so I decide that I wanted to quit. Sure I miss it but I'd rather miss my cigarettes than miss out on being able to watch my children grow up, graduate school & get married or watching my grandchildren grow up because I'm dead because of lung cancer.

I work mids and so I thought it was wise to acquire a dog to watch my place when I was gone . Anyways I'm playing with the dog and wheezing like an old man so that was all the encouragement I needed. It was actually easy once I made up my mind , I mean , what was going to happen ? Was I going to get a pain somewhere or something if I didn't have a smoke. It's all in your head.

Not something I recommend unless you want but I got pregnant.
Quit now to save your health. Have a relative who has emphysema and a lung disease called COPD. Has to suck on a little machine to clear the lungs and coughs like it is the last breath. It may be sooner than we think.
If you can't stop on your own go to the doctor. Another relative took an anti depressant called Welbutrin and quit straight away in no time. Good luck.

Me and my husband both quit cause of our kids. There's only so many times a person can hear their kids ask you to quit smoking.

I almost died. I had flash pulmonary edema (my lungs filled with fluid). It was pretty scary, but I'm glad I quit. Quit cold turkey, it's the only way the really works and NEVER go back to it, not even for one cigarette. Good luck to you.

Many reasons.
Cost.
A smokers cough that sometimes kept me awake at night.
losing breath while running and it taking a long time to return.
waking up gasping for breath.
the smell.
my lung function via spirometery tests had decreased.
I didn't like it controlling me.

My husband quit cold turkey one day after we were making love and he ran out of breath before he ran out of desire (so to speak). He was so disgusted with that, that he never smoked another cigarette.
